January 2020 Developer’s Note

Hello! This is the Soccer Spirits Development Team.

 

We’re here to give you information about planned balancing changes to occur throughout the first half of 2020, as mentioned during our Galaxy Live Finals Tournament that happened on Dec. 13th.

 

Here is a quick overview of what we have planned, and please read below for more details:

[January 22nd]

 

In recent seasons, Ali and Catharsis are players who have been used more than ever in the higher tiers of Galaxy Super League.

 

While Ali is vulnerable during early stages of the match, and can face some trouble against long-range shooters, he is overall incredibly durable as he grows stronger throughout the match. He has forced users to run specific players or strategies just to deal with him, which can be unsatisfactory as a user.

 

In the case for Catharsis, even after some nerfs, she is still one of those players who can dominate a game with her presence, thanks to her powerful effects that can easily swing the momentum of a match. We will begin Legendary Balancing for the first half of 2020, starting with these two.

 

Please note additional balancing is planned on Feb. 5th and Mar. 4th as well. Furthermore, for Jan. 22nd, we will be balancing 4 Unique Spirit Stones and their Legendary counterparts. More details will be revealed in the patch notes.

 

[February 5th]

 

On Feb. 5th, 4 legendary players will be targeted for balancing. We have plans to buff two, and nerf two. Again, specifics will be included in the patch notes, so please stay tuned.

 

[February 19th]

 

On Feb. 19th, we will also be releasing 5 new Unique/Legendary stones, so 1 new one per attribute. We will also be working to improve long-range shoot active and AI behavior. The goal is to make the long-range shoot experience be more rewarding to run.

 

[March 4th]

 

Continued legendary balancing will occur on Mar. 4th. There is a target range of four to seven legendary players, and who will be balanced will be based on the conditions of the game at the time due to prior changes and new additions.

 

[Feedback Regarding Server Integration]

 

We have been made aware of suggestions to consider merging servers for a number of reasons, such as the addition of Dimension Boss and new the Club Battle requiring more coordination and communication for users. On one hand, we are constantly making efforts to bring in new and returning users to add life to the servers. On the other, we are aware of such a concern, and are currently discussing among ourselves the best ways to approach the core issue and all the technical considerations to be aware of.

 

We’ve come up with many different solutions such as integrating content to be cross-server, allowing account transfers, allowing cross-server friends, etc. However, please be aware that each one has their own pros and cons, and all require a level of technical complexity to implement to a live-service game. Thus, serious discussion and planning must take place to decide on the best course of action.

 

It’s a very serious matter we are addressing, and one we are handling with lots of caution. As a result, we admit it will require quite a bit of time before we are confident in sharing more details, and ask the community to be understanding. Once it has been decided, it will be announced in a future Developer’s Note or video what we plan to do. Thank you.
